The Italian American Scholarship Association is offering college scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 to Italian American students residing in Rockland County. The scholarship program is part of a long standing tradition of investing in the future by making the dream of a college education a reality for deserving students.
Since it's inception in 1978, the IAS has dispersed more than $575,000 in awards to over 900 students, representing upwards of 17 schools in the Rockland County area.
SELECTION PROCESS:
- Submit application by the deadline: May 14, 2024
- There will be a first round review by judges
- Selected students will be notified for the interview round to take place late May, 2024
- Final selection follows the interview round
- If selected, the student will be notified for the awards ceremony which will be June, 2024
Who Is eligible?
- Must demonstrate Italian American Heritage
- Must reside in Rockland County
- Be a current high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent
- Plan to attend a 4 Year College
What are the details of the award?
- (5) Scholarships @ $2,000
- (1) Pinnacle Award @ $5,000
- Full amount of each award will be given at the June, 2024 awards ceremony
- Must be present to receive award
How do I apply?
- Only online applications will be accepted
- Register with a user name, password and email address. We recommend using a personal email address belonging to either you or your parents and not a school email address.
Before registering, please gather the following:
- Your current cumulative GPA
- A list of activities, awards, honors
- A list of volunteer work
- A statement of career and educational goals
- Your list of colleges applied to and the current status
- Your family's financial information
Additionally, you must request:
- (2) Teacher Recommendations
- Your most recent High School Transcripts
The application must be submitted by 11:50 PM EST on May 14, 2024.
How are recipients selected?
- Applicant will receive an email confirmation when the electronic application is successfully submitted.
- The selection will be based on a combination of academic record, financial need, demonstrated participation in school and community activities, statement of goals and aspirations, challenging circumstances, and outside appraisal.
- Special consideration will be given to those students who demonstrate a strong connection and commitment to their Italian heritage.
How are applicants notified?
- All applicants will be notified via email regarding their selection status.
